Welcome to the Horace Mann Middle School Library Media Center! The school library media center is a vital and integral hub of the school and as a result, reflects the philosophy and goals of the school and the district. In an age of information, acquiring information literacy skills and commitment for lifelong reading and learning become paramount. In the school library media center, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills as they use a variety of resources to meet the demands of today's curriculum.
Mission of the Library Program
- Promote literacy and a love of reading
- Teach information literacy skills (how to find, evaluate, organize, and use information)
- Help students learn to use technology safely, ethically, and efficiently
- Support students having difficulty with their technology (troubleshooting and repair)
- Provide open and free access to a wide range of ideas and viewpoints
- Offer students a friendly, non-judgemental place where they can feel welcome and valued
Circulation Policies
Students may check out up to 5 items at a time and keep them for two weeks. If a student hasn't finished a book when it is due, they may renew it.
We do not charge late fees. However, students will be charged for lost or damaged items.
Chromebooks
All middle and high school students in the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) will be supplied with a Chromebook device. This device is the property of the SASD. The Chromebook device is an educational tool that is not intended for gaming, social networking or high end computing.
